[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] There’s a lot to say about the new-to-the-UK brand, Naturopathica, so I’m going to focus today on the Sweet Cherry range – I hate to use the well worn word ‘obsessed’ but once you’ve tried the Sweet Cherry Lip Butter, you will understand that I am indeed obsessed with it! Naturopathica is a holistic brand whose principles from the outset (over 20 years) would align with what we understand ‘clean’ beauty to be today.  In this case, it’s not a marketing term – the brand has never used potentially harmful ingredients, working instead with natural, skin supporting materials and doing so as standard well before ‘clean’ was a trend. Founded by herbalist, Barbara Close, Naturopathica sits more the mid to luxury end of the natural skin care spectrum price-wise but incorporate into that sustainable and responsible ingredient sourcing, fair wages across vendors and workers and packaging that is in the majority glass or recycled materials, the brand reflects the choices we are increasingly making.

Naturopathica Sweet Cherry

There are three products in the Sweet Cherry collection – a Brightening Enzyme Peel, a Lip Butter and a Polishing Lip Scrub. I’ve had all three to play about this for a couple of weeks now and love them.

Naturopathica Sweet Cherry

Just how delicious does that look! The Sweet Cherry Enzyme Peel isn’t an aggressive peel at all – it’s got a glorious smell of cherries and just a hint of almond when you open the pot. Apply in a very thin layer all over the face and neck and leave for 3-5 minutes. The formula uses lactic acid as the main peel player with cherry fruit and its natural anti-inflammatory action listed as first on the INCI. Although it’s indicated for all skin types, I’d say that it’s particularly useful for skin that veers oily and can’t take very strong peels. You can expect softer skin with a brightening effect, so I’d suggest using it first thing in the morning and following on with your usual moisturiser.

Next up is the lip scrub. Again, Naturopathica takes a gentle approach to skin with this cherry seed powder powered exfoliator. It’s the only one I can’t really get any cherry scent from but it’s certainly good at its job of smoothing and softening. The seed powder is wrapped in a safflower, jojoba and shea base which makes it both exfoliating and moisturising at the same time. I’d recommend Naturopathica Sweet Cherry Polishing Lip Scrub at night, followed by the lip butter, for super smooth lips by morning.

Naturopathica Sweet Cherry

Finally, my absolute favourite from Sweet Cherry! This is just the most soft, melting and comforting butter. It glides over the lips leaving a slightly aromatic cherry trace and a dewy glisten to your lips. In terms of ingredients, there are familiar names – moringa, jojoba, shea, olive and safflower – which have been whipped to a consistency that is extremely light so when it hits your skin it melts on contact. There’s a dash of pomegranate extract for antioxidant protection. You only need the tiniest bit for complete moisture cover and it’s just a sheer joy to use. I know I’m addicted to my balms but this was love at first contact.

In terms of price, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The balm is £18 HERE, the scrub is £18 and the Brightening Enzyme Scrub has a try-me size for £12 HERE which I’d highly recommend if you just want to dip your toe into the peeling waters. The thing about Naturopathica is that it has a distinctly personal feel – it’s not fallen into the trap of anonymity or generics so you feel that you can connect with it – something that’s very much missing in beauty at the moment. All brands want loyalty but they don’t all work hard to deserve it – I’d say the opposite with Naturopathica. Everything on the website looks tempting (I’ve also been using the Calendula Essential Cream over a serum and it’s a wonderful overnighter when skin is running dry – thank you central heating) so I’ll continue to test and review as we go along.
