[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Iíd say that foundation formulas are a strength of Dior Ė thereís something a bit magical about the lightness of touch and the instant comfort on the skin. The sensation when you apply foundation and can feel it on your skin is very brief.
Dior Forever Foundation has been around since 2007 which is scary because it still feels like a relatively new launch to me. But, it was time for a revamp and with that in mind, the new formula is available in both matte and glow. I have the glow version here and thatís for you if you like sheerness and luminosity (yes I do!). But, the coverage isnít a light and dewy one Ė itís got plenty of pigment to give a medium-high coverage. Iíve seen it predicted that the trend for light coverage, real skin finishes is due to end (please, no!) so it may be that Dior Forever Foundation is ahead of the game.
I think nowadays, weíre more prepared to get what we want from a foundation if we like the formula enough Ė if it feels to pigmented for you, dilute it with moisturiser. Partly, the reason for the medium/high coverage is to fulfill the 24 hour wear claim although if you need your foundation to last all through the day and night, I take my hat off to you and Iíll have a little of what youíre having please. Forever has always had skin care ingredients in the formula, but these have been updated. Iris extract calms inflammation, pansy extracts help with hydration and nasturtium extracts protect from blue light exposure. A nice inclusion is in the Glow formula is hibiscus acid which works as a mild enzymatic exfoliant so if you wonder why your skin feels softer, thatís why!
One of the most impressive things is that the oil, skin care and powder formula has been tested in real life conditions for resistance to city pollution and humidity (key to the Chinese market where there is a high level of both). Bottom line for this new formula is that itís best in class for second skin, traceless feel that provides over and above on the skin care in both options, including SPF20. Itís expensive at £40 but I think you will feel you have got what you paid for in terms of performance and comfort. Iím not dedicated enough to take it the full 24 hours but I have put it through a yoga class and it was good as new by the end although it was perhaps a bit too glamorous for my local leisure centre :-). You can find it HERE with a good colour match chart (mine was spot on). The shades in the swatch are 1N and 2N and I could wear either although veer to 2N. If youíre not so invested in the new formula, while stocks of the original (excellent) formula are winding down, Escentual has it for £25.35 HERE.
